Hard work is supposed to pay off, but Bahamian-life just keeps getting harder. Sometimes you have to wonder, are we the conch?
Just over a year ago, Bahamians voted for change. So far, the Davis administration has delivered on a few campaign promises. Lockdowns are in the past, schools are open, and VAT is now 10% .
But many are still waiting on the BIG results we were promised. Meanwhile, our list of problems is quckly growing.
Right now:
- BPL fuel prices are rising, which means monthly bills will go up.
- The cost of living is too high.
- Illegal immigration is out of control.
- Crime is out of control.
- Minimum wage is static, despite political promises.
- Government is not following the law.
- The EU has blacklisted the country.
- Civil servants are reporting victimization.
- Road traffic has, well, serious issues.
- A sitting MP is up on corruption charges.
- Food costs are through the roof.
- Government is failing Abaconions.
- It’s also failing Grand Bahamians.
- And Nassauvians are in for a rough ride.
No one wanted these same old problems, but this is what Bahamians got. So we have to ask, are Bahamians the conch?
